Dr Holger Briel

Holger Briel is Associate Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. He studied Cultural and Business Studies at the Universities of Tübingen, Michigan, Massachusetts and the Sorbonne. He has had teaching engagements at Indiana State University, New York University, the University of Surrey, the University of Innsbruck’s Management Center and New York University Skopje. Shorter teaching appointments included the India Institute of Management and Learning, New Delhi and Ateneo University, Manila, The Philippines. On numerous occasions has he given lectures for high ranking managers, on business topics such as Business communication, Media strategies and Leadership Development. In the 1990s, he worked for Siemens PLC for 5 years and helped formulate its intercultural business strategies. He also has experience with the financial sector and state run businesses. He has published widely on culture, business and skills acquisition. His latest book is called Glocalisation - Electronic Media in South Eastern Europe (2009).
