On 27 May 2025, M6 Educational Centre, in partnership with the Swiss project Education for Employment (E4E), organized an event dedicated to the circular economy, waste management, and the development of green skills at the premises of Veze Shari in Tetovo. The event brought together representatives from the Embassy of Switzerland, Helvetas, M6 Educational Centre, and companies that are members of the M6 Board of Trustees
Participants had the opportunity to tour the production facilities of Veze Shari and Lecker, where innovative approaches to integrating circular economy principles into manufacturing processes were presented. They also explored waste management practices that enable the use of renewable energy sources and support sustainable production.
A special highlight of the visit was Elektro Shari, the first biogas power plant in North Macedonia that generates electricity from animal by-products and bio-waste. With a production capacity of 1 MW per hour, the facility represents a pioneering example of transforming waste into renewable energy
Veze Shari has established itself as a leading example of a company successfully implementing the principles of the circular economy. Through continuous investment in sustainable solutions, the company minimizes its environmental impact while creating additional value through innovative resource management.
“When you work with passion and dedication, focusing not only on profit but also on social responsibility and the development of the community, business growth comes naturally. Since starting as a small company in 1999, we have become a national leader in the circular economy. Today, we not only manage our own waste responsibly but also contribute to broader environmental protection through our activities,” said Arben Abdurahmani, owner of Veze Shari, Lecker, and Elektro Shari.
These companies are among the country’s leading producers of table eggs, beef and poultry products, operating across several locations throughout North Macedonia.
The visit was organized as part of the workforce development partnership between Veze Shari and M6 Educational Centre, through which the company invests in the continuous professional development of its employees by participating in M6 training programmes. By strengthening both green competencies and managerial skills, Veze Shari is preparing its workforce for the evolving demands of sustainable manufacturing.
“Today’s visit to Veze Shari once again confirmed the importance of investing in people as the most valuable resource. Their commitment to employee development, continuous learning, and strengthening the skills of young professionals is truly inspiring. We are very pleased with our cooperation with Veze Shari, which serves as an excellent example of how companies in North Macedonia can create working environments that encourage young talent to stay, grow, and build their careers locally. Only through partnerships like these can we create sustainable jobs, build careers, and move the economy forward. M6 remains committed to supporting companies that recognize the value of knowledge and invest in human capital,” said Elena Mladenovska Jelenković from M6 Educational Centre.
“We are pleased to see a successful example of a company implementing circular economy practices by treating waste as a valuable resource while simultaneously investing in the development of green and managerial skills among its employees. We hope that many other companies across the country will be inspired by this example,” said Michal Harari, Deputy Head of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires of Switzerland
During the event, Abdulezel Dogani, Chief Executive Officer, presented the companies’ activities, achievements, and future vision. Guests also gained valuable insight into the production and technological processes through presentations delivered by Krste Popovski and Halime Redžepi, who are responsible for the company’s technological operations.
The event concluded with an engaging discussion session, where participants exchanged ideas, experiences, and best practices for advancing sustainable industrial development, strengthening green competencies, and promoting the wider adoption of circular economy principles across the business sector.
